Structured data (schema) for AI visibility: a guide

Structured data is a way to label your site so machines understand it better. For AI visibility, it is a quiet but useful piece.

What schema is

Schema is a standard vocabulary that describes what each thing on your page is: a company, a product, an FAQ, an article. It is context in a language AI and search engines understand without ambiguity.

Useful types for AI visibility

  • Organization: who you are, so it identifies you precisely.
  • Product / Service: what you offer and its details.
  • FAQPage: your questions and answers, easy to cite.
  • Article: your content, with author and date.

What it does and does not do

Schema does not guarantee recommendations, but it reduces ambiguity: it helps AI understand and attribute your information correctly. It is technical hygiene, not a shortcut.

Part of something bigger

It works alongside clear content and an llms.txt file, within a GEO strategy.
